I Kissed the Baby

Juliette has no trouble letting either of her parents know when she needs space from us. She definitely enjoys her own company, and was in the midst of doing such when I walked into her room this morning. "I need some space" I was promptly told upon entry.

OK, no problem. Grabbed a new book I had just bought Evie I Kissed the Baby by Mary Murphy, also the author of How Kind. Kissed the baby is a children's board book version of the Seinfeld episode where they go to see the baby. It is best read with a Brooklyn accent.

I began to read the book to Evie, all of the sudden Juliette runs into the room, looks at the book - which I immediately confirmed was new - grabs it and runs out of the room all without a word.

Guess she likes books more than being alone. (I'm sure it wasn't the Brooklyn accent.)

Does Anyone Know Where I can find a Plastic Bubble?

Bruce and I were discussing earlier the biggest thing they don't tell you. No one tells you that you will spend months and months of your time sick as a result of having children. The more children, the more exposure to different germ sources, the exponential sicknesses.

Juliette has been sick for seven of the nine days she has been three years old. Her body temperature has ranged from 95.5 degrees to 103.7. That is not a misprint.

Her father has been sick all nine days.

Her sister has been sick six of nine days.

Her mother has lost count but is looking into buying one of the hermetically sealed environments that John Travolta used in "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble".

Do you think I could find one on eBay?

So long two and five sixths...

Today was Juliette's third birthday. We celebrated by going ice skating this morning with Julia. Evie wanted to go too, but we talked her into waiting until next time. Juliette got her confidence quickly and really got into the rythym of skating, before too long she'll be out there on her own.

Julia also really took to skating and did a great job showing off her stuff on the ice.

Amelia and Rachel came over for dinner with their mom and dad.
Juliette and Amelia took turns blowing out the candles. It was great fun to celebrate Juju's birthday in many different ways.

Mom is going to look for the Advil to recover from skating.

Happy Birthday Juliette! We love you!!

Happy 16th Month Birthday Genevieve!

We got you a week after you turned 1. I was so disappointed to not have you for your first birthday, but every day since then has been a blessing!

We love you!!

Why are you pretending??

Juliette has concern for the safety of even her "Live Free or Die" Aunty Heidi.

Aunty Heidi and Uncle Howard came down for a visit last week - sooo much fun! Including trips to Arlington Nat'l Cemetary, Georgetown etc.

Back to the story. New Hampshire adopted LFOD as their motto a long time ago, http://www.nh.gov/nhinfo/emblem.html but present-day residents will proudly discuss their lack of a helmet law for motorcyclists (it is up to the individual) and is essentially a petri dish for libertarian ideology despite (NH's) political limelight every four years during the primaries.

So, my sister doesn't wear seatbelts. She isn't required to by law in NH, and has gotten out of the habit. She was buckling Juliette in one day and pretending to put on her own.

Juliette took one look at her and said, "Aunty Heidi, why are you pretending to put your seatbelt on?"
